Twinkle, Twinkle Origami Stars raise funds for Give a Child a Teacher

Our fundraising efforts in Albertslund in December at a big Suzuki concert and various Christmas concerts were a big success.

We folded 300 origami stars.

After the concert everybody could take one home and, if they wanted to, make a small donation to the ESA's fundraising campaign 'Give a Child a Teacher.

The concert was a promotion arrangement in our public music school in Albertslund. We are 6 Suzuki teachers attached to the school and we wanted to give the parents and families (and the new school leader) a better insight to what the SUZUKI™ approach really is. So we arranged a concert solely with the SUZUKI™ repertoire.

Every group gave a performance; viola, guitar, double bass and violin. Between the performances each teacher would read a Dr. Suzuki quote and explain to the audience what the quote meant to them personally. We also performed all together the French Folk Song and the Twinkle variations.

After the last lesson of the term, the guitar group had a cosy meal together and a concert for their parents.  One parent promised an ice cream for everyone who would wear a traditional Christmas-gnome hat and we raised more money for Give a Child a Teacher.
