Suzuki Piano students play music written for children by contemporary composers Charlotte Bray, Regis Campo (UK premier), and Stephania Turkewich. Stephania is know as the ‘first’ Ukrainian female composer, who studied, lived and worked in Ukraine, and after the Second World War, she moved to the UK, eventually settling in Cambridge. Where she died in 1977. We have special permission to perform a piece she wrote for children, probably in the 1930’s. This might well be its first performance! Her story of exile echoes that of many Ukrainian’s today.

This concert will be in aid of the ‘Ukrainian Suzuki Association’ of violin teachers, piano teachers, their students and their family. Many are displayed in Ukraine or have gone abroad, leaving behind instruments. The association has been helping its members to buy violins and pianos, laptops for online lessons, amongst other things, and any money raised by this concert will go directly into the bank account of the president of the association for distribution.

It’s a good cause and it will be a wonderful concert, given by children, for children.Selection of pieces from Charlotte Bray’s ‘Chapter’ pieces for solo piano (written as presents for her friend's children)

Two pieces from the soon to be published ‘Galaxies II” by Regis Campo Children’s piece by Stephania Turkewich
