  • Starting this July, and finishing in April 2026, my next Suzuki teacher training programme will cover Level 1 under the ‘European Suzuki Association’ system.  The ESA has the responsibility for Suzuki Teacher Training covering Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Based mainly around my private teaching practice in Cambridge, UK, this course will last for 120 hours, finishing with examinations. It will be delivered with a hybrid mix of in-person and online.

Application involves a brief interview and pre-recorded performance of pieces from the core Suzuki repertoire.

Part of the course involves the trainee working on their own technique, and on tone production, in such a way, as to help the student acquire a healthy technique.

‘Teach the student how to play with fine musical expression and a singing tone.’ Dr Suzuki advised Piano Teachers.

Since tone is the central musical principle, I use acoustic pianos.  My studio has three uprights, two Yamaha U1’s, and one Yamaha U3, and these will be for teachers' lessons, (as well as for students), while for the online lessons I use a Yamaha grand.
