Cape Town, SOUTH AFRICA hosts its FIRST SUZUKI CONCERT

The very first Suzuki concert to be performed in Cape Town, South Africa was held on Saturday 17 March 2012 at 12 noon in the beautiful church of St Mary's on the corner of Roeland and Hope street in Cape Town's city centre.

 

 

The pupils who took part were from the studios of Maria Botha and Renee van der Westhuizen.  Some children from the Masidlale Outreach project at which Maria Botha, Nolovuyo and Tembisa teach also participated. Almost fifty children were there on the day.

The children played a selection of pieces from Suzuki Violin Book 1 and 2, after which the teachers and trainees also played for the audience.
 
Maria and her son played the 2nd movement of the Bach Double Violin concerto (Violin and Clarinet). 

Renee played the Country Dance, Graham Alexander played the Bach Bouree.  

Tembisa, Nolovuyo and Siyathemba (Teacher Trainees ) played 2 African Traditional Songs with the Masidlale group.
