Concert of the Nordic Countries NORWAY

The traditional Concert of the Nordic Countries, Ung Nordisk Ton, organised by the Norwegian Suzuki Association took place on 20 November 2011, in Majorstuen Church, Oslo.

The first Ung Nordisk Ton Concert was held in Berwaldhallen, Stockholm in 1993 and since then the Suzuki Associations of the Nordic Countries have taken it in turns to be the host country and organisers of this popular concert.  This is the second time it has been held in Norway.

The concert venue was Majorstuen Church, designed in the style of Classicism with influences of art deco and neo-baroque, a splendid but very cold building that day due to a broken down heating system.

In spite of the cold, the performers played beautifully and were very well received by the Norwegian audience.

Performers were -

Jens Amborg, guitar, Sweden, playing  I. Albéniz: Asturias Leyenda

Julia Isaksson, piano, Sweden, playing    Rachmaninov :Preludium Op 23 no 5

Ulfhildur (Ulla) Thorsteinsdottir, violin:  Iceland, playing Romansa by Árni Björnsson

Mari Halvorsen, violin, Norway, playing   Grieg: Sonata F major, 2. and 3. movement

Mira Aas, violin Norway, playing   E. Ysaÿe: Solosonate nr. 2 Obsession
