Teachers come from all over SPAIN for the First Suzuki Pedagogical ConferenceSan Rafael is a beautiful mountain town between Madrid and Segovia, right in the center of Spain. It was in this town that the First Pedagogical Conference for Suzuki teachers was held 21 to 23 October 2011 organized by the Spanish Suzuki Federation.
Suzuki Teachers from all corners of Spain, from Canary Islands to Barcelona, from Gibraltar to Valencia, from Murcia to Navarra and even a Spanish teacher living in Leipzig, Germany came together for the purpose of learning and meeting their colleagues.
Ruth Miura, Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer, presented and translated a selection of Dr. Suzuki videos at the conference. Forty five Spanish teachers gathered around the screen watching Dr. Suzuki teaching, explaining his method, demonstrating, working with the teachers, captivating the world with his ideas, and also with his smile and kindness.
Everyone was taken back to a time in which Dr. Suzuki himself demonstrated that "Tone has the Living Soul".
It was a truly inspiring weekend for everyone.
The Spanish Suzuki Federation also held their Annual General Meeting during which many important decisions were made with regard to the future of the Suzuki Method in Spain.
President of the Spanish Suzuki Federation, Eunice Cordero was very encouraged by the weekend - "Forty five people is not many in number when compared to the thousands of children, parents and teachers that were on the videos of the Matsumoto Concerts in the 80's, or the hundred of thousands of people all around the world who have been touched by the Suzuki Method over the last sixty years - but it is a great beginning. I hope that this will be the first of many opportunities to continue learning and sharing. We have a lot to do and we have to be as prepared as we can!"
